"Communities within Bangladesh have been working with nature for many years to adapt to climatic impacts and there is a rich body of knowledge on how to implement Nature-based Solutions."
Nature-based Solutions (NbS) involve working with biodiversity and natural systems to find solutions for our societal challenges, such as – poverty, food and water insecurity, health risks, climate change, and disaster risks. Thus, the concept has been gaining the global momentum. On 15 September 2020, an article on “Rethinking Nature: A Pathway towards Sustainable Development?“, authored by Tasfia Tasnim and Dr. Haseeb Md. Irfanullah, was published by UN Environment Programme (UNEP) as a part of its Perspectives Series. The article explores how taking a nature-based pathway can bring about positive social, economic, and environmental outcomes and promote sustainable development for our society. The authors mainly present how NbS are linked with 17 SDGs and can help us to progress towards the sustainable development.
